I don't have the answer to current rampant plutocracy, kleptocracy and corporatocracy, but I doubt it is the populism we are seeing. That seems more like a tool these "ocracies" are using to stay in power.

The reason is that the marginalised are also often the most ignorant in a society. This is not due to their own fault of course, but due to the fact that the marginalizers have an interest in keeping the marginalized ignorant, so that it is easier to keep them marginalized.

I feel that this unavoidable fact presents a serious problem for populism, and recent historical events confirm that concern...
