Nobody has the faintest idea about what intelligence is.

The article takes silly AI doomsday fears too seriously, while in reality it is completely out of reach of current technology. It may even be in the cards, eventually in a distant future, but no serious AI scientist will consider it as a scenario to consider presently. We may as well worry about the dangers of teleportation.

The threat of loosing jobs is instead a very real and urgent problem, as you observe. But the solution to that will have to be political, not technological.
